What’s Up Wednesday: January 2018

We made it through January!!  And it was actually a pretty darn good January.  Here are my highlights.

{ONE}  What we’re eating this week…

  • Burgers and cooked carrots
  • BBQ Ribs and au gratin potatoes
  • Shredded chicken in gravy over rice and green beans
  • On our own
  • Swedish meatballs over egg noodles and salad

{TWO}  What I’m reminiscing about…

As I was working on my bedroom decluttering, I came across this…

Those were some crazy days that I am glad to have behind me, but it was also a unique community of mom’s supporting each other and I miss that a little bit.

{THREE}  What I’m loving…

This.  I did it.  Thirty consecutive days of yoga.  And I absolutely loved it!  I have a new fitness idea for February, but I also have every intention of doing this entire series again in July – maybe with Amy.

{FOUR}  What we’ve been up to…

I was worried that January was going to bring cabin fever but we actually did quite a bit this month.

We made a trip to Ames.

I spent a day with Amanda helping her organize her kitchen and pantry, and we attended the Heppner’s holiday party.

We went to a Wild game …

… and a winter ice cream social …

… and the Sportsman Show.

{FIVE}  What I’m dreading…

Can’t think of anything I’m dreading right now.

{SIX}  What I’m working on…

Here’s an update on my 2018 goals:

Leisure – I have chosen the 10 libraries I want to visit, but haven’t actually gone to one yet.

Physical – Gary and I have gone snowshoeing one time.

Financial – I have outlined the various aspects of our Starwood ownership and have started filling in the details.  We have also identified a total of four bills we are going to try to pay off this year (my goal was two), and three are very doable.

{SEVEN}  What I’m excited about…

Baby showers!  They start in February and I have purchased gifts for two of them.  Amanda is in her third trimester so it’s getting real.

{EIGHT}  What I’m watching/reading…

I found the third season of Schitt’s Creek and watched that in two nights.  I’m also watching The Amazing Race and enjoying this group very much.  Fixer Upper is the only other regular right now, but here’s a funny sidenote.  The show is on from 8:00 – 9:00 on Tuesday night.  I believe there have been five or six episodes this season, and I have not stayed awake for the reveal one time.  I guess I am especially tired on Tuesday night.

{NINE}  What I’m listening to…

I finished the Elin Hilderbrand Winter Street Inn series at the beginning of the month, so I have been catching up on my podcasts.  Additionally, I purchased this and listen to it daily.

{TEN}  What I’m wearing…

… or rather, what I’m not wearing.  Since I have been on this clutter kick, I took a hard look at my winter clothes and pulled out a couple I haven’t worn yet this winter.  I figure we have gone through the fall transition and the full range of winter weather, and if I haven’t worn them yet I’m probably not going to.

I have had this for years and years, and it’s just too snug.  I’ve been hanging on to it because it’s in perfect condition, probably because I never wear it!

This is nice and loose, but the neck makes me crazy, and I really wanted it to be long enough to wear with leggings and it just isn’t.  I have also had this for years and years but it’s just not going to make the cut.  Both are now in the Goodwill pile.

{ELEVEN}  What I’m looking forward to…

We are exploring paint options for the book shelves, and I have high hopes that the bathroom will be finished in February.

The tile has been ordered and I believe it is going in next weekend!

So that was our January.  Hope the first month of the year treated you well, and cheers to February.  I’m ready for ya!
